Salvia Divinorum has been used traditionally by the Mazatec Shamans in its native land, Oaxaca, Mexico. Salvia is considered to be one of the strongest psychedelics out there. The leaves contain opioid-like compounds that induce hallucinations. Salvia is interesting because it has many uses, the dosage is very little (so a little goes a long way) and the dosage can be easily controlled for different effects.
Mazatec Shamans have a long and continuous tradition of religious use of Salvia divinorum to facilitate visionary states of consciousness during spiritual healing sessions. Maria Sabina, the psilocybin curandera and Mazatec healer often used Salvia when there was no psilocybin available for her healing ceremonies.
Salvia can be used in many different ways but I strongly advise to tread lightly, and as all plant medicines that are sacred, threat them with the highest respect.
Salvia is quite different than most other psychedelics in that you can totally become disoriented, not remember where you are, bump into things, and be very confused so its recommended to do it with a sitter so you don’t get hurt. In the smaller doses for pain and micro-dosing purposes its important to try it first in a safe space to find the dose that works for you.

Clinical studies and uses:
For pain- Salvia has been shown to treat headaches and arthritis pain.
For depression- Salvia shows to be a very promising treatment for depression, enhancing mood and causing the participants to be more self aware. One 26-year-old woman who suffered from treatment-resistant depression since adolescence reported total remission through regular Salvia use. (Micro-dosing 3 x a week)
For addiction-A 2009 study found that when cocaine-addicted rats were exposed to Salvinorin A, their cocaine-seeking behavior (pushing a lever to self-administer the drug) became less frequent. In part, this is due to the way in which κ-opioid receptors balance out and inhibit dopamine, the “reward” chemical released by cocaine.
For Meditation- In a preliminary study conducted by MAPS, Salvia was found to clear the mind and eliminate distracting thoughts. The optimal dosage for nearly all participants was one gram of raw leaf chewed. Any more than that was found to be too powerful for meditation.
Similar to psilocybin, Salvia can help retrieve childhood memories and dissolve negative thought patterns and behaviors. During a salvia trip, your visual, auditory, and tactile stimuli shut down resulting in a temporary sense of self lost (similar to when taking DMT) leading to the process of ego- dissolution.
This extract was created on the Full moon in July using 15 grams of dried Salvia Leaves, processed for a complete moon cycle. Each bottle contains 2500 mg of extracted leaves. Extract will give a bit of a different effect than chewing or drinking as a tea. You will feel the effects with as little as 1 dropper. The effects happen immediately and they last 30-45 minutes.

I felt the effects right away. My body felt disoriented and paralized in my bed. I entered into what felt like a mini mushroom trip where everything became more vivid and I was suddenly very deep in my mind thinking about past memories that were unhealed. These unfinished memories were brought to my attention that needed resolution. I got up to walk and was very disoriented, walking clumsy and with a wavy motion. It felt like I had swirly legs. My thoughts were loud and I liked that so much was coming up, things that I don’t normally think about.
( I had trouble sleeping later so I wouldn’t recommend this late at night before bed. )
For Meditation and Yoga take 3-10 droppers full with a warm liquid such as tea. Dose yourself slowly. Start with 1-3 droppers, wait 5 minutes and go up adding 3 droppers at a time until you feel the effects you want. It starts working immediately and will last only 30 minutes. This is how I use Salvia, in my Yoga practice. It really helps go deeper with the stretches, connect with your body and still your mind.

For pain- Take 1-3 droppers full as needed.
For micro-dose similar to Psilocybin take 2-5 droppers full in the morning in a warm liquid like coffee or tea. Take for 3 days and take 2 days off.
For deeper introspection work, dose yourself 5 droppers at a time re-dosing every 5 minutes until you feel desired effects. You will need a sitter because Salvia causes you to be disoriented when taken in the larger doses and you can easily bump into things and have trouble walking and may want to move around. Tread lightly with the higher doses.
